EEWL: Hand-knit scarves celebrating Ancient Egypt
Introducing EEWL, a shop for handmade knitted scarves featuring designs inspired by Ancient Egyptian art and culture. I have a few goals for this project:
to celebrate Ancient Egyptian history.
to find a creative outlet for my knitting and design hobby.
to raise awareness of and funds for the Theban Mapping Project Library.
The Theban Mapping Project A.U.C. Library, based in Luxor, Egypt. gives locals access not only to books but also to literacy and educational programs. I will donate a percentage of the proceeds from any item I sell to the library.
Please join me here on Substack and at the social media links below. I'll be posting the stories behind the images I portray in my scarves. In light of my goal to support the library, I also will review books and other resources where my followers can learn more about Ancient Egyptian art and culture.
If you like the scarves, a few are available in the shop. See a design you like that's not in stock or want your own combination of colors? Send me a message via the contact form to request a custom piece. Please note that custom orders will require two to three months of lead time, depending on the size and complexity of the piece.
